We utilize state-of-the-art physical agent modalities equipment and technologies. Here are further descriptions of our physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy services:
PHYSICAL THERAPY
Our Physical Therapy programs utilize highly-trained Physical Therapists (PT) and Physical Therapist Assistants (PTA) to develop, maintain, and restore maximum movement and functional ability throughout the lifespan.
This includes providing services in circumstances where movement and function are threatened by aging, injury, disease or environmental factors. Physical Therapy involves the interaction between physical therapists, patients/clients, other health professionals, families, caregivers, and communities in a process where movement potential is assessed and goals are agreed upon using knowledge and skills unique to physical therapists.
Treatment may focus on pain control; instruction in new equipment such as wheeled walkers and canes; transfers; bed mobility and ambulation training; wound care; caregiver education; falls prevention; balance training; and coordination training.
SPEECH THERAPY
Speech Therapy treatment may be utilized to target impairments affecting voice, fluency, cognition, aphasia, and swallowing. Our Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP) strive to implement programs that will increase verbal expression, auditory comprehension, and problem-solving.
This allows for increased ability to communicate basic physical needs and emotional status, communicate personal self-care needs, engage in social communicative interaction with immediate family and friends, plan for future events, and reminisce about the past. Speech Therapy services aid in increasing overall speech intelligibility, increasing ability to follow mobility sequences, reading functional information (labels, recipes, news), and communicating without assistance in multi-topic exchanges.
Our Speech-Language Pathologists also commonly treat swallowing difficulties known as dysphagia. We develop exercise programs, utilize technologies, teach compensatory strategies and safe swallow techniques, and provide patient and caregiver therapy education to help with recovery of swallowing function.
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
Our Occupational Therapists (OT) and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA) work with residents and patients to increase their independence and help with Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
This includes assisting the resident in regaining the skills for self feeding, grooming, bathing, toileting, and dressing. Adaptive Equipment is provided to residents who are unable to complete these tasks on their own.
Occupational Therapy also focuses on providing assistance for those individuals who display decreased safety, strength, fine motor skills, activity tolerance, balance, and cognition. For those individuals who need higher level ADL training, the focus is on Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) such as cooking, cleaning, money management, medication management, return to work skills, and other skills needed to allow for increased independence in their environment.
